Classic Hit of the Week

Don't You Ever Get Tired Of Hurting Me
by Ronnie Milsap
Written By: Hank Cochran
Recorded: 1988; Nashville, TN
Peak Position: #1

Ronnie Milsap is an artist who has had success in country music with many various sounds. In 1974, Milsap enjoyed his first number one hit with "Pure Love," an uptempo tune written by Eddie Rabbitt. He has also had a knack for covering classic hits from the 50's and 60's and turning them into new hits. Whether it be a Doo-Wop classic such as "Happy Happy Birthday Baby"(1986) or the Joe Henderson pop oldie "Snap Your Fingers" (1987) or Don Gibson's "A Legend In My Time" (1975), Milsap brings old songs back to a new life.

In 1989, Milsap took "Don't You Ever Get Tired Of Hurting Me," a classic written by Hank Cochran, back to the top of the country charts yet again. The song had already been a two-time hit for Ray Price who first recorded it in 1966. Then, in 1981, Price re-recorded the song as a duet with Willie Nelson.
