Water Cooler

So just where does country music stand?

Precariously no doubt. But those of us who care passionately about it's future can do something about it! A suggested solution: Make your passion viable. It isn't the CMA, CMT, GAC or mainstream radio who define country music. It's the music itself. If you don't buy mainstream's definition -- then put your passion where your mouth is and seek out the literally hundreds of  artists and bands still making real country music. Give them your support. Catch them live. Pick up their CDs. Instead of getting involved in another endless Shania/Faith debate start a new thread on someone whose music has touched you. Instead of talking about what's wrong with country music -- share with others what's right about it.. Give us your 2 cents

If you're tired of the daily dramas of other boards that have nothing to do with the music this might be your place...

"If you are bitten by this thing we have come to call the Bakersfield Sound it becomes a part of you. It reaches out to every part of your heart and your soul and becomes the thing that you need to survive. You need that music. It goes beyond logic. It is something that feeds your spirit. And I know I am not the only one who feels that way. This music we make here is special. It calls to you. And you hear it calling to you. No matter how faint, you feel it. There is nothing else like it in the world!" Roy Nichol
