"This is the music that moved me to Nashville. I grew up singin' gospel music, but always was a big fan of traditional country music. And these are the songs that actually made me move here. These are the guys that made me move here." - Daryle Singletary Track List Love's Gonna Live Here

Daryle Singletary's musical offerings have a proven track record of being stone cold country and his latest album to be released May 7th on Audium Records is no exception to the rule, and that, fellow country music fans, is an understatement. "That's Why I Sing This Way' is nothing short of a stellar personal tribute to Daryle's influences and a flawless example of how country music can and should sound. On his recently released single 'That's Why I Sing This Way (penned by Max D. Barnes), Daryle lightheartedly attributes his singing talents to being 'whupped' with a George Jones album. The real reason can most likely be attributed to the fact that this young man from Georgia has a great respect and appreciation for the music and artists that have influenced him throughout his life. Over the years, many artists have created cover albums, re-making songs -- dusting off old favorites and making them new again, but from the opening chord you begin to immediately suspect this one's not going to be a typical album of revisited classics. The track list on this album reads like a 'best of' list, but with the addition of legendary collaborators and vocal back ups, Daryle raises the benchmark more than a few notches. With the addition of the IBMA's 2002 Entertainer and Female Vocalist of the year, Rhonda Vincent, along with her brother Darrin on background vocals, you know this is something special. Then, there's the elite group of friends who happened to lend their talents to the project, making it more of an event than a recording and a 'must have' for any country music collection. Kicking off the album is the rollicking Bakersfield classic 'Love's Gonna Live Here. Dwight Yoakam joins Daryle for a healthy dose of Bakersfield twang on the Buck Owens' classic, reviving the 1963 hit, and leaving us recalling the good ol' days when Don Rich/Buck Owens harmonies filled country music radio airwaves. George Jones career was at full steam when he recorded Walk Through This World With Me in 1967 for Musicor. Daryle sings the song with veteran polish, but when George joins him for the last line, we're quickly reminded of why there will never be another country singer like George Jones. I never realized how much I missed Conway Twitty and his music, until I heard Daryle sing 'Love To Lay You Down.' Other's have tried but none have succeeded in coming close to capturing the impact and casual perfection of Conway Twitty's vocals, as Daryle. A-11 is one of the album's many hidden treasures. Although recorded for Capitol Records by Buck Owens in 1964, it was Johnny Paycheck that took the Hank Cochran tune to the radio airwaves in 1965 on Hilltop Records. Daryle recaptures the magic of the steel and fiddle drenched song. Rhonda's background vocals are outstanding throughout the project, but even more so on this track. It's clearly evident that Daryle knows his how to pick a great country song with the inclusion of not one, but two of Lefty Frizzell's most haunting honky tonk ballads: 'Long Black Veil' (Dill, Wilkin) and' I Never Go Around Mirrors' (Frizzell, Shafer). And, if Dwight Yoakam and George Jones isn't impressive enough for you, how about a some Haggard rockin' on Make Up and Faded Blue Jeans or a chilling and powerful recitation by an ailing Johnny Paycheck on Old Violin. Daryle's latest project is an exceptional album in its own right, made classic by it's outstanding production and it's heartfelt tribute to legendary songs and artists that have influenced many a career. 'That's Why I Sing This Way' is an album that honors country music and it's legends, giving us cause to pause and remember the great artists we've lost and a renewed reverence for those still among us. It's a quality tribute to the tradition of country music from a man who knows what he's singing about and why. Great country music is timeless, and with artists like Daryle Singletary, who aren't ashamed to celebrate the music that brought them to where they are, there is much hope for country music's future.
