(Lost Highway) Willie Nelson has never been afraid to sail unchartered seas. His many diverse tastes, interests and talents have taken him in many, sometimes very surprising directions. He has a huge body of work to his credit, and achieved the status of "legend". With The Great Divide, Willie again explores new territory, while maintaining his distinctive style.

The Great Divide is a collaborative effort, five songs are duets, and with the exception of the title track, the rest of the songs were written by others. Willie brought in producer Matt Serletic, and gave him free reign over the songs, artists and sounds that were to be used. Serletic, best known for his work on Santana's Supernatural release, works the same magic on The Great Divide.

Rob Thomas (of Matchbox 20) penned 3 of the songs, and duets with Willie on one. Bernie Taupin (Elton John collaborater) also contributes 3 songs. An all-star cast of country and rock artists joins Willie on the duets: Lee Ann Womack on "Mendocino County Line", Kid Rock on "Last Stand In Open Country", Bonnie Raitt on "You Remain" and Sheryl Crow on "Be There For You".

The Great Divide is a mix of musical styles- country, southern rock, pop, and a touch of blues. However this is a Willie Nelson CD all the way, his one of a kind phrasing and distinctive vocals pulling all the varied elements together, and making this eclectic group of songs, one of Willie's stongest releases to date.
